The Lakewood Lancers were the 52-28 winner over the California Condors when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lakewood fell 40-32 to the Condors on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lakewood has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Lakewood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cristina Jones. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a triple-double on 18 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. Jones is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
This is the second loss in a row for Lakewood and nudges their season record down to 22-5. As for California, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood will square off against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jordan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Lancers are ranked 85th). As for California, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Titans at 4:00 p.m. on January 31st.
