Casa Grande is 10-0 against Napa since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Casa Grande Gauchos will head out on the road to take on the Napa Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Casa Grande has eight straight wins, Napa has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Casa Grande kept a clean sheet against Vintage. They came out on top against the Crushers by a score of 2-0. Give Casa Grande's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Lauren Reposa and
Emmy Gotshall, who scored both of Casa Grande's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 16 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Napa fell victim to Sonoma Valley's stalwart defense on Tuesday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were the victim of a tough 5-0 defeat at the hands of the Dragons. Napa has not had much luck with Sonoma Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Casa Grande's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those eight matchups. As for Napa, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11-1.
Casa Grande took their victory against Napa in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 9-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Casa Grande since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
