The American Eagles are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against the Arroyo Dons at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. American is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
American lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Mt. Eden, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's contest. The Eagles put the hurt on the Monarchs with a sharp 13-1 win on Wednesday. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Maverick Pinkevich was incredible, going 2-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Jackson Lee Hubbell was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: American kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Eden only managed one.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Arroyo, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top against Westmont on Thursday by a score of 8-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Christian Darosa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Darosa was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabriel DeLaCruz, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Marco Carbajal, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
The victory made it two in a row for American and bumps their season record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Arroyo, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
American was able to grind out a solid win over Arroyo in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 8-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
