Fort Calhoun had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out the North Bend Central Tigers 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Fort Calhoun's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lyla Pearson, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Fort Calhoun hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches dating back to last season.

North Bend Central is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
