The Lakin Broncs can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 72-44 victory over Stanton County on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Lakin has posted since December 1, 2023.
Despite the loss, Stanton County saw an underclassman step up: Gerardo Robles scored eight points along with three steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Robles posted two or more blocks. Juan Aleman was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Stanton County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Lakin is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Stanton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Lakin won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sublette at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Sublette will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 176th, while Lakin is ranked 24th). Stanton County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Southwestern Heights at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
