The Fremont Wolves will face off against the Maple Mountain Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Fremont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Fremont is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against West Jordan by a score of 11-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolves considering their one-run performance the game before.
The team relied heavily on Adam Mikesell, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Landon Palmer, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fremont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 14-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Maple Mountain faced Pleasant Grove in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Eagles fell 11-6 to the Vikings.
Hayden Hyatt was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Kye Ward was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Fremont is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Maple Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Fremont hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Maple Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Fremont might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Maple Mountain in their previous matchup on Monday. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
