The Hampton Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 47-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riverside. Hampton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Riverside apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophia Schulze, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schulze has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Lukassen, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Hampton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. This was only their 11th loss (out of 13 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Hampton has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 13 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for Riverside, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14.
Hampton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-47 victory vs. Giltner on the 9th. Riverside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
