The Hamilton Braves will head out on the road to face off against the CORE Butte Lynx at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Hamilton sitting on five straight victories and CORE Butte on three.
Hamilton can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Los Molinos 56-21 at home. Given Hamilton's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 557th, while Los Molinos is ranked 1159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Natalie Castillo was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Hanne Porter was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
CORE Butte posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-16 win over Williams on the road. With CORE Butte ahead 34-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Hamilton's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for CORE Butte, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Hamilton took their victory against CORE Butte in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 47-21. Does Hamilton have another victory up their sleeve, or will CORE Butte turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
