Basketball Recap: Crenshaw Takes a Loss

If Crenshaw was riding high fresh off their 78-30 takedown of GALA last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crenshaw Cougars lost 70-44 to the George Washington Prep Generals on Wednesday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Generals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Crenshaw still got an impressive performance from Jada Kindle, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Kindle is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Talita Robinson, who posted nine points.

George Washington Prep had a senior duo take command as Jaleyah Lucien dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds and Jay'La Ray dropped a double-double on 17 points and 24 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lucien has scored all season. Dereon Conant was another key player, putting up 12 points and five rebounds.

The loss snapped Crenshaw's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-8 record. As for George Washington Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.

Crenshaw didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 87-20 win against Dorsey on the 31st. As for George Washington Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-30 victory against GALA on the 31st.
