Castro Valley and Piedmont are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Castro Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Castro Valley will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating Berkeley, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Trojans came out on top against the Yellowjackets by a score of 9-4 on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on three straight.
Castro Valley got a massive performance out of David Colon, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Colon has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Arthur Sims, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Castro Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berkeley only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, Piedmont has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.53 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They came up short against Oakland Tech, falling 13-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Highlanders have suffered since March 7th.
Will Parker and Diego Delventhal stepped up to the plate in a big way. Parker went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Delventhal got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Markos Lagios was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Castro Valley's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Piedmont, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-5 record.
Castro Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Piedmont in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Highlanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
