Two dominant signal callers in JOHNNY HAMILTON and Legend Bey are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Longview Lobos will square off against the North Forney Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Longview got the win against Rockwall-Heath by a conclusive 31-7. The Lobos haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Longview to victory, but perhaps none more so than JADEN HURNDON, who picked up 116 receiving yards and one touchdown. HURNDON was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 55 yards. KAIDON GRAVES was in the mix too, providing Longview with two TDs.
North Forney hadn't beaten Royse City on the road since October 14, 2016 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Falcons blew past the Bulldogs, posting a 47-0 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Falcons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 64th).
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Cordai Woodard and Andikan Asuquo. Woodard rushed for 137 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries while Asuquo rushed for 134 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries. That's the most rushing yards Asuquo has posted since back in October of 2024. Kam Johnson was another key player, rushing for 31 yards and one TD.
North Forney's run defense was locked in: Royse City could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Kobe Jackson for the heroic effort on defense: he. North Forney didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.2.
North Forney didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Deuce Gilbert and Josiah Turner. Turner has been hot, having also posted six or more total tackles the last five times he's played.
Longview's record now sits at 5-3. As for North Forney, their record is now 7-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Longview has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 205.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like North Forney struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 377 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything went Longview's way against North Forney in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as Longview made off with a 21-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lobos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
