The Union Area Scotties waltzed into their game on Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They came out on top against Aquinas Academy by a score of 38-27. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Union Area also won the last time the pair played on January 2nd.
Emily Fisher and Tess Duer certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Fisher scored ten points along with four steals, while Duer scored four points along with six rebounds and three steals. Duer hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
Aquinas Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Union Area has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Aquinas Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-3.
Union Area will head out on the road to square off against Bishop Canevin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Canevin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 467th, while Union Area is ranked 123rd). As for Aquinas Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Eden Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m.
