The Los Alamitos Griffins will be taking part in a tournament against the Vista Murrieta Broncos at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Vista Murrieta will be up against a hot Los Alamitos squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Los Alamitos' pitchers stepped up to hand Rowland a 10-0 shutout on Saturday. Fans of the Griffins have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
JACK LORENZ looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, CADE BARNETT was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of WYATT JOYCE, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Los Alamitos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Vista Murrieta won against Palm Desert on Friday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Vista Murrieta put the hurt on Banning with a sharp 9-3 win. The victory was just business as usual for the Broncos, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
Gavin Kramer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on RJ Holmes, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ryland Duson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Vista Murrieta pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Los Alamitos, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Los Alamitos has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Vista Murrieta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
