Softball Recap: St. Michael the Archangel Wins Going Away Against Bishop Leblond

St. Michael the Archangel had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Bishop LeBlond on Monday. The Guardians were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Guardians, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Sophie Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Samantha Dorsch, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Ventimiglia, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

St. Michael the Archangel's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop LeBlond, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Coming up, St. Michael the Archangel will head out to face off against Oak Park at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop LeBlond, they will take on West Platte at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
