Baseball Recap: Westminster Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Peachtree Academy

Westminster Christian Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Peachtree Academy on Monday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cole Grantham spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, David Norris and Dailey Orr did most of the damage at the plate: Norris scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Orr scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Norris has posted since back in February. Walker Allen was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Westminster Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Peachtree Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster Christian Academy will head out to challenge Briarwood Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buccaneers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Peachtree Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Covington Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.75 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
