If the Dunsmuir Tigers were riding high off their 47-27 takedown of the Surprise Valley Hornets last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Dunsmuir had to suffer through a rough 54-22 loss at the hands of Butte Valley. While losing is never fun, Dunsmuir can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1298th, while Butte Valley is ranked 641st).
Dunsmuir got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Abby Powell and
Cyla Clemens, who each put up seven points.
Dunsmuir's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.4 points per game. As for Butte Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Dunsmuir does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Butte Valley, they will be playing at home against Hayfork at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.
