It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Sonora Wildcats had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Reds with a sharp 4-1 win. The result was nothing new for Sonora, who have now won 14 contests by three goals or more so far this season.
The win (which was Sonora's seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-5-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 39 goals over those seven contests. As for Gustine, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10-2.
Sonora will face off against Hilmar at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hilmar is coming into the match with five straight wins on the road, so Sonora is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. Gustine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
