The Heritage Patriots will square off against the Citrus Hill Hawks at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Heritage 3.9, Citrus Hill 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, it was close, but Heritage sidestepped Hemet for a 5-3 win. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Heritage let Wade Johnson and Brenton Jackson run wild. Johnson went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Jackson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Jackson has posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Citrus Hill). They blew past JW North 14-6 on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won four games in a row.
Efren Urrea made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Urrea was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Noah Brion was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Riley Corlew was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Citrus Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Heritage's victory bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Citrus Hill, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
