Basketball Recap: Palm Desert Sets Scoring Season-High Against Rancho Mirage

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palm Desert). They blew past the Rancho Mirage Rattlers 64-14 on Wednesday. The Aztecs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 29 points or more this season.

Palm Desert was led to victory by Katelyn Gallagher and Ava Tethal. Gallagher went 7 for 15 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals, while Tethal went 6 for 11 on her way to 17 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Tethal has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiffany Chang, who posted 13 points.

Palm Desert has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 24.7% in those games and 14.5% outside of them. As for Rancho Mirage, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Palm Desert will square off against Shadow Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rancho Mirage, they will take on La Quinta at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
