The McClatchy Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Antelope Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McClatchy has seven straight wins, Antelope has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It was a proper cat-fight when McClatchy took on Kennedy on Saturday. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
McClatchy got a great performance from Camden Salisbury as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Salisbury has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Blaszczynski, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Tozzi, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
McClatchy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
West Park hit Antelope with a five-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Titans lost 11-1 to the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Titans have suffered since March 30th.
McClatchy's record now sits at 22-4. As for Antelope, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15-1.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. McClatchy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Antelope struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went McClatchy's way against Antelope in their previous meeting back in March, as McClatchy made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
