D'Evelyn and Golden are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2018, but likely not for long. The Jaguars will face off against the Demons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Golden's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: D'Evelyn hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Jaguars never let Green Mountain get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Wednesday.
The result came thanks to Nava Basquez's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Macie Allen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Claudia Harris was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: D'Evelyn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 17-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Golden came tearing into Wednesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Panthers.
Adrianna Riddle made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Riddle was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Daely Peterson and Reagan Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Peterson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Smith went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Katie Welte, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
D'Evelyn's record is now 19-3. As for Golden, their record now sits at 17-5.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. D'Evelyn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .513. However, it's not like Golden struggles in that department as they've averaged .516. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
D'Evelyn skirted past Golden 3-2 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
