The Foothill Falcons will be taking part in a tournament against the Berean Christian Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Foothill 2, Berean Christian 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
The home team had won the previous six meetings between Foothill and California, and Foothill kept the tradition alive. The Falcons narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Grizzlies 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won five in a row.
Take Sato-Kreis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Foothill let Landon Comerford and Tanner Tarpley run wild. Comerford scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Tarpley went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Tarpley launched this season.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Berean Christian's offense. They came up short against Bradshaw Christian on Wednesday, falling 7-0. That makes it the first time this season the Eagles have let down their home crowd.
Berean Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zack Upshaw, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Foothill pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Berean Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Foothill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Berean Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Foothill beat Berean Christian 5-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
