The Festus Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Fox Warriors at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Festus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Festus is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Windsor just ended the team's 13-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Owls. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Kendahl Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeleigh Hankins, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Fox ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out DeSoto 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since September 2nd.
Olivia Keith tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Fox let Maddie Baldridge and Makenna Johnson run wild. Baldridge went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Johnson went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
The win made it two in a row for Fox and bumps their season record up to 11-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Festus, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 15-3.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Festus hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Fox struggles in that department as they've averaged .312. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Festus came out on top in a nail-biter against Fox in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
