The Creekside Seminoles will face off against the Manchester Blue Devils at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Creekside has five straight wins, Manchester has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Creekside's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against M.L. King as they made off with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Seminoles have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Rhianna Weaver was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Dazire Randle was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Sanai Smith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Creekside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Manchester lost 10-2 to Marion County on Wednesday.
Manchester saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Armonie Cooper, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Creekside's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Manchester, their loss dropped their record down to 2-19.
Manchester's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Creekside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378.
