Basketball Recap: Hattie Piper Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Upper Lake

Point Arena hadn't done well against Upper Lake recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Point Arena Pirates walked away with a 49-41 victory over the Upper Lake Cougars. This was payback for the Pirates, who suffered a 57-10 loss the last time these two teams met.

Point Arena's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hattie Piper, who posted 19 points. Piper's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayde Swan, who scored 14 points.

The win made it two in a row for Point Arena and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for Upper Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Point Arena didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-22 victory against Middletown on the 13th. As for Upper Lake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 34-28 win against Lower Lake on the 14th.
