Jacob Santos was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of University's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 4-10 when he doesn't).

New Roads hit Rolling Hills Prep with a five-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 10-9. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Max Sarner was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. University has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rolling Hills Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
University came out on top in a nail-biter against Rolling Hills Prep in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
