After flying high against the Utica Eisenhower Eagles last Wednesday, the Port Huron Red Hawks came back down to earth. Port Huron fell to Dakota 42-37. Port Huron has not had much luck with Dakota recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dakota to victory, but perhaps none more so than Samone Andrews, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Andrews is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gracie Maloney, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Port Huron's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Dakota, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Huron will challenge L'Anse Creuse North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. L'Anse Creuse North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 455th, while Port Huron is ranked 99th). As for Dakota, they will head out on the road to challenge Utica Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Utica Eisenhower is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
