The Sunny Hills Lancers will face off against the Yorba Linda Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Yorba Linda took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Sunny Hills, who comes in off a win.
Sunny Hills not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 7th (when they won 14-0). They put the hurt on Esperanza with a sharp 9-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Andre Katayama made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Zayyir Miramontes looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Sunny Hills let Brian Kim and Mateo Ramirez run wild. Kim went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Ramirez went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Kim has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Girod, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Sunny Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Yorba Linda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 7-0 to Pacifica.
Yorba Linda had to settle for second despite strong performances on the mound from Troy Radomski and Manny Ramirez Radomski tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits, while Ramirez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Radomski is becoming a predictor of Yorba Linda's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 3-18 when he doesn't).
Sunny Hills' victory bumped their record up to 6-19. As for Yorba Linda, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-20.
Everything went Sunny Hills' way against Yorba Linda in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Sunny Hills made off with a 9-2 win. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
