After four games on the road, Liberty is heading back home. They will take on the Elsinore Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Liberty took a serious blow against JW North, falling 64-24.
Loss or not, Liberty got some senior leadership from Alex Barajas who scored 9 points and Susie Fernandez who scored 8 points. Barajas scored a full 37.5% of Liberty's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Elsinore's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tahquitz. While losing is never fun, Elsinore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 669th, while Tahquitz is ranked 325th).
Ashirah Washington-Williams put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds. Washington-Williams is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Niara Smith , who scored 4 points along with 10 rebounds.
The losses dropped Liberty to 4-6 and JW North to 2-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Liberty have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 15.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Elsinore struggles in that department as they've been even better at 41.2 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
