After a string of three wins, the Math Civics & Sciences Mighty Elephants's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They were outmatched by West Philadelphia on the road and fell 48-7. Math Civics & Sciences lost against West Philadelphia in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 26-22 score last time.
West Philadelphia was led to victory by Sakeey Hunter Meachum and Mouye Tall. Hunter Meachum scored 15 points along with four steals, while Tall dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. The game was Tall's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Naeemaih Bridgeford, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Math Civics & Sciences' defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for West Philadelphia, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Math Civics & Sciences will head out on the road to face off against Roxborough at 3:15 p.m. on January 17th. As for West Philadelphia, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome High School of the Future at 3:15 p.m. on January 10th.
