Canon Fletcher was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. San Jacinto Valley Academy is undefeated when Fletcher posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Penfold, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Temecula Prep made easy work of Hamilton on Wednesday and carried off an 11-1 win.
Nikolaz Gonzalez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Scarlett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Dulaney, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Temecula Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for San Jacinto Valley Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. San Jacinto Valley Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Temecula Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
San Jacinto Valley Academy took their victory against Temecula Prep in their previous meeting last Monday by a conclusive 12-5 score. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
