The Mar Vista Mariners can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 37-25 win over Castle Park. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mar Vista also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Mar Vista found their leader in underclassman Anissa Smith, who scored 13 points. Aaliyah Temcho was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
When it comes to explaining why Castle Park lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ahliah Samaniego. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points.
Mar Vista's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Castle Park, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sweetwater the next time they take the court. Mar Vista will host Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Castle Park will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
