It was a good run, but the Vista del Lago Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 55-42 to Oak Ridge. While losing is never fun, Vista del Lago can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Oak Ridge is ranked 18th).
When it comes to explaining why Vista del Lago lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ella Skrzyniarz. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Skrzyniarz is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 12 games she's played. Ursula Chen was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Vista del Lago's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8. As for Oak Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vista del Lago will face off against Sacramento at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Ridge's road trip will continue as they head out to face Whitney at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Whitney will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
