The Menlo School Knights will square off against the Priory Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Menlo School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
Last Friday, Menlo School had to suffer through a 70-42 loss at the hands of Pinewood. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Panthers are ranked ninth).
Ruiqi Liu put forth a good effort for the losing side as she went 8 of 15 on her way to 21 points and six rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games she's played. Saanvi Upreti was another key player, putting up seven points.
Meanwhile, Priory entered their tilt with University on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Red Devils 71-36. With the Panthers ahead 38-11 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Priory's win came from a few key players Menlo School will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Vienn Sheng, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc to rack up 18 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ugreat Daniels, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points and seven boards.
Priory smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.
Menlo School's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Priory, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Menlo School has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Priory struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Menlo School came up short against Priory in their previous matchup back in January, falling 51-44. Will Menlo School have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
