It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but the Anderson Indians ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 78-70 victory over New Castle. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Gabby Douglass, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten steals. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Brown, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and two steals.
Despite the loss, New Castle still got an impressive performance from Emma Hart, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 50% of New Castle's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kaidyn Minyard was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Anderson and bumps their season record up to 11-13. As for New Castle, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-20.
Anderson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for New Castle, they will face off against Hamilton Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hamilton Heights will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
