Meanwhile, Coalinga waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Aztecs.
Noah Tasi made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Tasi was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other pitching news, Luis Gutierrez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Wojewoda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1 stolen bases per game. Raymond 'Dozer' Flores Jr was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coalinga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Coalinga's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Tranquillity, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.
Tranquillity suffered a grim 18-1 defeat to Coalinga when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
