Basketball Recap: Horizon Skates Past Desert Edge with Ease

Horizon came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Desert Edge Scorpions, posting a 72-40 victory. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 26 points or more this season.

Brennan Korn went supernova for Horizon, going 9 for 16 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds. Ethan Hayes was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points.

Horizon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Horizon's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Desert Edge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Horizon will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Buckeye at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Horizon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Buckeye likes a good challenge. As for Desert Edge, they will venture away from home to challenge Westwood at 8:30 p.m. on December 30th.
