Crete and the Huskies are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Crete Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Aurora Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crete is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Last Thursday, Crete was able to grind out a solid win over the Warriors, taking the game 49-42.
Meanwhile, Aurora came into Saturday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 52-36 win over Lexington on Saturday. Given Aurora's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Minutemen are ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crete has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Aurora, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11.
Crete strolled past the Huskies in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 51-33. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Aurora's Denae Nachtigal, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Crete still be able to contain Nachtigal? There's only one way to find out.
