Bosco Tech is a perfect 10-0 against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Jose Iniguez made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Iniguez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Iniguez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Longoria, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Chadwick by a score of 7-6.
Joshua Rios was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Angel Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Bosco Tech's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.
St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bosco Tech has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. It's a different story for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, though, as they've only averaged .359. Will they be able to contain Bosco Tech's hitters?
Everything went Bosco Tech's way against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy in their previous meeting back in March, as Bosco Tech made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
