Basketball Recap: Spring Creek Falls Despite Big Games from Brennan Chambers and Nathan Jackson

Spring Creek saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of the New Bern Bears by a score of 58-56.

Spring Creek's loss came despite strong showings from Nathan Jackson and Brennan Chambers. Jackson went 9 of 16 en route to 22 points and six rebounds, while Chambers went 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. Jackson's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Deal, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Leading New Bern to victory were Amari Reddick and Jussan Wiggins. Reddick dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards, while Wiggins went 8 of 16 on his way to 17 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Terry Riggins, who had ten points and eight boards.

Spring Creek has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for New Bern, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Spring Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-65 loss against Pamlico County on the 28th. As for New Bern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-59 victory against Living Water Christian on the 28th.
