After two games on the road, Nitro is heading back home. They will take on the Winfield Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Nitro is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Winfield in West Virginia (Nitro is ranked sixth, while Winfield is ranked 75th).
Even though Scott scored an imposing 75 points on Wednesday, Nitro still came out on top. Nitro pulled ahead with a 76-75 photo finish over Scott. The win was just what Nitro needed coming off of a 70-37 defeat in their prior game.
Nitro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Poniatowski led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Crouch, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Winfield came up short against Elkins on Monday and fell 48-39.
Nitro's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Winfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Nitro didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Winfield when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 67-62 victory. Does Nitro have another victory up their sleeve, or will Winfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
