Basketball Game Preview: Northgate Broncos vs. Ygnacio Valley Wolves

The Northgate Broncos will head out on the road to square off against the Ygnacio Valley Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northgate is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Last Tuesday, Northgate escaped with a win against Alhambra by the margin of a single free throw, 52-51.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northgate to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maddison Sardelich, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. That's the most points Sardelich has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jada Mayse, who posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Northgate smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ygnacio Valley ended up a good deal behind Berean Christian on Tuesday and lost 65-47. The loss continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.

Northgate will have to contain Sa'Rye Starks as she made an impact in Ygnacio Valley's last game. She dropped a double-double on 39 points and 12 boards. The contest was Starks' eighth in a row with at least ten points.

Northgate has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Ygnacio Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Everything came up roses for Northgate against Ygnacio Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 71-44 victory. Will Northgate repeat their success, or does Ygnacio Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
