The Lytle Pirates will be home for the holidays to greet the Southside Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lytle will be looking to keep their 15-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Tuesday, Lytle was able to grind out a solid win over Stacey, taking the game 61-53. Given Lytle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Stacey is ranked 1093rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lytle found their leader in underclassman Chase Guevara, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Guevara has scored at least 25% of Lytle's points. Seth Pierce was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 72-46 defeat at the hands of Veterans Memorial.
Lytle's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Southside, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
