The Stoughton Vikings will challenge the Luther Prep Phoenix at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Stoughton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Stoughton turned things around against McFarland on Friday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Spartans.

Saxton Wiest was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Oliver Pietruszynski was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Luther Prep was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell just short of St. John's Northwestern Military Academy by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Phoenix have suffered since April 24th.
Luther Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dan Taylor, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Luther Prep has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Stoughton, their win bumped their record up to 5-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Stoughton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Luther Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
