The Swink Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 40-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crowley County. Swink has struggled against Crowley County recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Swink lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jocelynn James, who scored 12 points. Hunter Wallace was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Crowley County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nakayla Aguilar led the charge by scoring 13 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Aguilar has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emalee Ross, who scored nine points.
Swink's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.7 points per game. As for Crowley County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swink will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Cheyenne Wells at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Cheyenne Wells focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Thursday. As for Crowley County, they will head out on the road to square off against Las Animas at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Las Animas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 back in December of 2023.
