Baseball Recap: Public Safety Academy Has No Trouble Against Weaver

Public Safety Academy won the last time they faced Weaver and things went their way on Thursday too. The Phoenix were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Monarchs. The Phoenix might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Matt Bennett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jesse Casarez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Public Safety Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Public Safety Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Weaver, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Public Safety Academy will square off against Desert Chapel at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something the Phoenix will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Weaver, they will take on Redlands Adventist Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Monarchs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
