Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Riverview Sharks, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 33-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sumner. Riverview has not had much luck with Sumner recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Sharks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dontarious "Rico" Shoats, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Turner also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Sumner got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Greg Smith III out in front who threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also punched in a rushing scores. Tyler Williams was another key contributor, picking up 62 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Riverview has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for Sumner, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Riverview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sumner will be playing at home against Durant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
