Two dominant guards in Jamiah Fontenberry and Aaliyah Youngblood are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Inderkum Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Monterey Trail Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Inderkum is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Last Thursday, Inderkum had to suffer through a rough 81-43 loss at the hands of Antelope. While losing is never fun, Inderkum can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Antelope is ranked 93rd).
Despite the defeat, Inderkum saw an underclassman step up: Breahn Flood scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Flood is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tianna Honrada, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Monterey Trail can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Burbank 67-11 on the road. Monterey Trail pushed the score to 58-8 by the end of the third, a deficit Burbank had no chance of recovering from.
Inderkum's loss dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Monterey Trail, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.
Inderkum was taken down by Monterey Trail 81-30 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Inderkum was down 46-19.
