Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Grace Rodis, who posted ten points and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ayla Garrett, who scored nine points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Douglas County West). They put the hurt on Fillmore Central with a sharp 62-40 win on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Falcon have posted since February 6, 2024.
Douglas County West's win came from a few key players Conestoga will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Addison Strong, who went 7 of 10 en route to 20 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Those 20 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Wiese, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 14 points and three steals.
Douglas County West was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Conestoga's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Douglas County West, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Conestoga has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 23.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Douglas County West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
