Meridian are taking a road trip to challenge Riverton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meridian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Meridian came up short against LeRoy and fell 9-5. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Meridian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ted Jones, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Dan Enlow also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Riverton came out on top against Heyworth on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Hornets. The Hawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Cole Howard was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.7 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of James Stevens, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Having lost for the first time this season, Meridian fell to 4-1. As for Riverton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Riverton's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Meridian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Riverton, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Meridian keep running through batters, or will Riverton buck the trend?
Meridian might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Riverton in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Can Meridian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
